If you do not provide your own ISRCs when you submit your content for distribution, our system will generate ISRCs for your sound recordings and will automatically register these ISRCs with SoundExchange so they associate with any of your sound recordings in their system. All Catapult generated ISRCs are registered with SoundExchange (But royalties are not claimed unless you authorize us to do so).
ISRCs are used for distinguishing and tracking individual sound recordings in all music platforms including SoundExchange, and therefore, registering your ISRCs with SoundExchange is required by the RIAA for ISRC Registrants such as Catapult.
*Registering ISRCs is not the same thing as Catapult claiming your royalties in SoundExchange. In order to claim any royalties associated with an ISRC, it must first be registered with SoundExchange...but we will not claim any royalties for those ISRCs unless you authorize Catapult to do so.
